Integer overflow
When I tried to process my turn in Invulnerable Challenge game I got two errors:
http://koti.mbnet.fi/asmala/error1.gif http://koti.mbnet.fi/asmala/error2.gif I had about 350 ships and on the other side of the warp point Sharks had about 100 ships and bases plus a ringworld and several planets filled with weapon platforms. When my first scout fleet of 40 ships went through the warp point there was no errors. Any idea why the game crashed now (obviously there's too much stuff but more accurately)? |
Re: Integer overflow
BLast. I don't know what the root cause of that is... Freeing up memory and re-trying seems to work sometimes...
Perhaps the info in this thread may help? http://www.shrapnelgames.com/cgi-bin...;f=23;t=009281 |

Re: Integer overflow
Hey, I got the problem solved. Or perhaps "solved" isn't the best word because actually I was only able to evade it. I just wait a turn longer before sending the fleet http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif No problems this time. Strange.

Yep that error is somewhat random... but it's more prone to happen with larger battles. |
Re: Integer overflow
ElntOverflow is an error seen in Delphi programming. Is SE4 done in Delphi?

Re: Integer overflow
IIRC,
Space Empires was done in VBasic Space Empires II was done in VBasic Space Empires III was done in an early Version of Delphi Space Empires IV was done in a newer Version of Delphi There are logs somewhere (I think on the Yahoo/eGroups mailing list) with a message from Aaron saying which Languages/Versions each iteration in the series used. |
