New Illuminati & Andorian Ships

I am well on my way to finishing the Andorian and Illuminati ships sets.

The images are PNG not BMP so they might not looks as good on the web page as they do in actual.

The Illuminati Ships

http://www.astmod.com/images/Illumin...tleCruiser.PNG Battle Cruiser
http://www.astmod.com/images/Illumin...Battleship.PNG Battleship
http://www.astmod.com/images/Illumin...readnought.PNG Dreadnought

The Andorian Ships

http://www.astmod.com/images/andoria...tleCruiser.PNG Battle Cruiser
http://www.astmod.com/images/andoria...Battleship.PNG Battleship
http://www.astmod.com/images/andoria...readnought.PNG Dreadnought

Both sets will include some Neo Standard Images when they are done.

Why would they not look as good? The whole point of PNG is lossless compression so that they look EXACTLY the same as BMP. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">They are loosely based on a simular ship design. But if you look you will see that they are differant in many regards.

And the Andorians and Illuminati current sets are exactly the same.

The new sets have ONE simular ship. The rest are all distinguished by their details.

One is Star Trek based the other is not. So having simular looking ships is perfectly ok. At least they are not exactly the same as the current sets are.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I uploaded a PNG image to your image site and it looks all washed out and blended together. Really bad looking.

I am using one of the best imaging programs on the market to convert them from BMP to PNG and on my computer they look idential, however after uploading them they all look like bleed together pixalated JPEG's.

webcomic artist's have complained that .png loses detail.

.png only loses detail if you do not know how to use an image converter. MS Paint in XP can save PNGs with 0 loss of color info/detail (as that is the only way it can save them).

Could it be that some browsers don't display .png's well, rather than a flaw in the format itself?

I don't think that is it, unless he is using some wacky browser. Both IE and Netscape display them fine (unless there is transparency; IE can not display PNG transparency layers correctly and instead makes those pixels grey). But, I know AT uses Netscape normally, so there must be some other explanation.
