Weird Lock up
SE4 Gold stops loading at 4%. I have to kill the process. I have reloaded every driver, WinXP and XP patch that I can get hold of. There is one file, FutMed font file that I cannot delete, reporting that the disk is full or locked (I can delete other files) or the file is locked by another application. There is nothing else running. It was working fine yesterday, in and out of it several times. Now no go.
Everything else seems to be working fine. Rebooted the machine, several times, still no go. Ggggggrrrrrr |
Re: Weird Lock up
Try reinstalling to a different location and see if it works then. Also, make sure to install the latest SE4 patch.

More particulars:
Windows XP Prof, all upgrades AMD 2500+ 512 Meg Ram T14200 Video Version 1.84 SEIV BIOS Nforce2 latest 120 gig WD harddrive. It works fine after a fresh install then it goes sour. |
Re: Weird Lock up
I have tried installing in a different location. Patch 1.84 is applied each time as it is required to play my email game I have going. Also have checked for viruses.
If I delete then reinstall the game, it works until the machine goes into a sleep cycle. The game is always closed when the machine goes to sleep. A registry problem? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif |
Re: Weird Lock up
Could be...
Why do you have your machine going into sleep mode anyways? Unless its a laptop on the road, turning off your monitor is the most you should bother with. You can just leave the computer set with a screensaver only, and turn the monitor off with the power switch when you leave. |

Re: Weird Lock up
I used to have problems with some programs on my computer when it went into sleep mode. I just turned sleep mode off and hit the power on the monitor if I am going to be gone for any length of time.

Let it run. Apart from the software problems, least hardware troubles I have are with servers running 24 hours, most problems with comps that are put to sleep (or worse, switched off) several times a day. I recommend switching off the monitor though. Unless you are just taking a smoke break or so: same here, on/off too often for too short time is not good. |
