PBW Picture Problems
 

I just started in a PBW game, Advanced Challenge (Quick Start Game), and all is well except for the fact that My race is showing the wrong picture. The game had a few false starts but it eventually got going. My race is set up as it should be, including the rewrite if the history and such, but I am seeing the shipset of another player (the Abiddon as opposed to my Gron).

Does anyone have any Idea how to fix this?

Sounds like the game can't find the proper Shipset pictures, and as a result it's defaulting to another race.

Make sure the Shipset you set everything up with hasen't accidently been deleted or renamed. Also, if the Gron (or is it supposed to be Gorn?) pictures are part of a Mod, and the PBW game you're involved in doesn't use that same Mod, then you may have to relocate the folder with the Shipset pictures to another folder (ie: move it to the SEIV\pictures\races directory, or to the SEIV\<Mod Your Using Here>\pictures\races directory.)

Yup, it is defaulting to another race. As far as being in the wrong folder... I don't think so. I created a mod folder for the game. it only really contains the datafiles for the game (we're playing stock 1.84) and the racepics for the players (no AIs in the game).

Anyone have any other ideas?

Rewrite of the history? Hmmmm. Is this a game where the game owner modified the empire history before the game start? If so I think I know what happened. If the game owner didn't have your custom shipset loaded on his PC and he edited the empire file it would change the shipset to the first one in his races folder. Stock Abiddon in your case, or it would have been whatever custom shipset he had in his folder that comes before Abbidon alphabetically. No way to fix this without restarting.

Actually, I was the one to rewrite the history (in the Gron_AI_General file). But something like that may have happened. I had to send in my emp to be put in manually. If the owner had a peek before putting it would probably have that effect.

I think this is correct:

You could change the picture(s) in the Abbiddon race file during the duration of your game and then change them back later. However, all of the Abbiddon races will use your pictures during that time...Greybeard

The problem is that another player is using the Abbidon. Mine is duplicating his. Tis the doubling that is disturbing me.
