Players wanted for PvK\'s Proportions Game #1

We could use some replacement players for the PBW game "PvK's Proportions Game #1".

It'd be best for players who want to play a game with lots of very long-term strategy, as it is set in a large quadrant using the Proportions mod, which means it takes a long time to do things, and several players eventually left due to this, leading to other players leaving (and others left for unrelated reasons).

On the bright side, the empires available are rather well-developed, having got the long process of building up over with. On offer are:

Space Vikings (Rollos Vikings shipset) - a powerful central empire who has captured the Kobaian homeworld.

Human Confederation (ConFed shipset) - a corner empire with a superior intelligence, safe-ish position and many meticulously-named ships.

The Slu'vek Society (SEOR Fleet shipset) - a side empire with god-like research and intelligence ability, temporal technology, a safe-ish position, and territory to expand into.

Daitoon Consortium (Leonine shipset) - an empire with a central location which I don't know much about.

People's Empire of Night (Stock Shipset - Xiati) - a strong empire with a central location.

Kazharii Imperium (Vorlon Empire shipset) - a widespread empire with a very good position and organic technology.

Enlightened Plague (8472 shipset) - a strong empire who helped the Vikings capture the Kobaian homeworld.

Not occupied but not really available are the Rex Dominion, whose royal elite took most of their empire with them when they left the quadrant, and the Krsqk Imperium, whose leader Krsqk may return when he gets his Internet connections working again.

Man, that game is still going on? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I was the original Daitoon. Of course I left so long ago I am sure the empire is unrecognizable now. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Is the Kazharii Imperium still in 1st place? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I guess the rest of you decided to go ahead with the game, heh? Good luck. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I had no idea that the Vikings and the Plague were friends at one point. After the Vikings went under AI control, I spent most of my time (as Plague) taking over Viking planets.

Hehe. I can't tell if the Kazharii are still in first place or not, since the statistics aren't displayed, but they haven't been attacked. Lisif took them over for a while, but then had to leave for personal reasons - he might remember, though. I'd've thought the Vikings would've been in first place with the captured Kobaian homeworld, depending on how much the Plague has taken over. The Plague's trade is on par with the other major nations, but trade doesn't include mining income.

The Vikings are hostile with the Plague, the People's Empire of Night, and officially with my Draconians (and the remaining Kobaians and Rexians). The Plague are hostile with the Vikings, the Kazharii, and the Kobaians. I'm trying to help the Kobaians eventually recover their homeworld - it gives me a challenging goal even while many of the other players are away. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I just remember that even after the Vikings took the Kobaian HW, the Kazharii were still in first place (I didn't even find out about the takeover until some 20 turns after it happened). How that happened, I do not know. Probably from the number of mining bases I had built in the spread out empire. I think they hit 2nd for a turn or two, but that might have been a different game...

I'd like to have a try playing the Slu'vek folks. What do I need to do to get into the game?

I have a copy of Proportions v.2.5.3.1, but haven't played with it any yet.

You just need Proportions 2.5.2.2, and the shipsets listed on the game page for the other races.

(Proportions 2.5.2.2 is the same as 2.5.3.1, except solar collectors are as strong as they were before 2.5.3.)

OK, I got Proportions.2.5.2.2, and I got all of the shipsets listed on the game's page at PBW. Now what? Just click the Sentry-shield icon for "Take Over for Player"? Or is there anything else I need to set up before I click that?

Why do two of the empires not have a shipset listed?

Yes, just click that option on PBW, and I'll get an email notification and then I go approve you. You should then get the current turn and the password for your empire. (Let me know if you don't get the password, though - for some reason, sometimes replacement players don't seem to get the old password, so I and/or a PBW admin have to clear it.) Then you do the turn and send it in.

The two empires who don't list shipsets, are using stock shipsets which don't conflict with any of the others.
