newbie question on mines & space empires V
These are multi-player Q's for PBW. I know a treaty greater then NA doesn't set off mines, but the Q I have is can any other treaty level other then partnership see the mines you have layed, & also...if a enemy fleet has a sweeper aboard their fleet & sweeps your minefield...do the enemy ships keep going on their way?....or does the fleet stop where they swept the minefield for the turn?
Also Chips & Bits Online shows a pre-order for Space Empires V...coming out this month...but it's the only place I've seen anything about it at all?...Anybody else hear anything about it? |
Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
- Other empires can not see your mines under any treaty, including Partnership.
- The ships don't stop. If they did, it would have been too easy to slow down enemy fleets. - Current estimates suggest that Chips & Bits are about a year off on the launch of SEV. Wish they had it right though http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif |
Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
Thank You & yes I'm looking for a way to slow a advancing fleet. Does a battle with a satalite or a ship stop the fleet there for that turn?

Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
Nope.
That is, unless you manage to damage any engines. The fleet will move on after the battle with the movementpoints of its slowest member. |
Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
Satellites are often a great way to stop attacking fleets that cannot be slowed by mines, especially if the satellites can stop even one ship in the fleet, and engine destroying weapons are great for this.
One weakness in satellites (and weapon platforms) using Ionic Dispersers (engine destroyers) is that they will not stop shooting at one ship, even after its engines are gone. I believe that the game keep shooting at one ship until its total damage is reached, and then a special weapon like an Ionic Disperser will then pick a new target. Shield Depleters face a similar problem. Just keep that in mind when loading up a warp point with satellite defenders. You might be able to get around this by trying to manage the order in which your satellites are launched, but I'm not certain if this is true. |
Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
OK interesting Q then...if fleet continues on after sweeping a minefield sector...& enters the next sector & there's 100 mines there also..does it sweep again in the same game turn?....or will those 100 mines now affect the fleet since it sweepers just swept 100 mines Last sector?

Re: newbie question on mines & space empires V
Ships can sweep as many sectors as they can move into in a turn. The sweepers are limited by mines per sector, not mines per turn.
