Scale mount question
Why is it that whenever anyone creates scale mounts for components, the minimum size and maximum size are always one off of the actual targeted size? (e.g. if you want a mount that only works on battlecruisers you'd set minimum to 599kT and maximum to 601kT) Is there a bug in the game or something? The minimums seem to work just fine when there's no maximum set; the stock Large Weapons Mount doesn't require a minimum size of 399kT... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/confused.gif

Re: Scale mount question
The maximum is there so that you can't put the wrong scale mount on a bigger ship. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif I do not recall if the max value means ships this size and smaller, or if it means smaller than this size...

Re: Scale mount question
After extensive testing involving 1000s of laboratory mice, I have determined that min of 400 and max of 400 work great for a mount that can only be placed on a 400 kT ship.

Re: Scale mount question
Certainly when I used mounts for units in P&N, it was for those reasons:
1) Prevents the mount from being used on a ship that is too large. (EG, more efficient shields on really small craft in P&N, smaller engine mounts in mQNP systems) 2) Avoids the need to worry about whether max and min are inclusive http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif If they were set to exactly the tonnage of the ship, it would have to be tested to make sure it works. 3) It allows you to add new ship sizes without worrying about the pre-existing mounts accidentally being available. Re: Scale mount question
Do we even want to know why it takes 1000's of laboratory mice? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: Scale mount question
They run on mouse wheels attached to little turbines to generate electricity to power the testing computer. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif

Don't tell Narf, he'll be all up in arms - er, paws - about mouse rights! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
