Idea for SEV - sort of.

One of the biggest micromanagement hassles of SEIV is the sorting and filling the construction queues. I suggest an option in the constuction window - to mark some particulat planet/shipyard as "appear in the events log if empty". Basically, it will allow you to mark the essential construction places (up to your liking) and an easy access from the first window you see when processing a turn !!

well, it sounds like a good idea, if only to remind you that the SY is there. your explanation is a bit confusing, though. that can happen with stuff that appears 'in a stroke of lightning'.

I think I know what he means. It would be nice to know when you're que is empty so you can go back and load it up again. Some que's would be longer than others, and once your empire expands somewhat, it does get harder to remember which planet is building what. Some sort of message on your log would be nice stating that planet X has an empty que.

When empire grows, there will a lot of planets with nothing to build. Filled with facilities when you don't have enough income to build ships/units. Such planets make sorting the queues very difficult. I would like to have an option to make them "invisible" and focuss only on few where I want to build stuff.

This is what I do.

For Example in the Oleg System.

Home Planet would be renamed: (((-))) “your Home Planet”

Oleg IV is a breathable and does a lot of construction. renamed (-) Oleg IV this way it will always be just below your Home Planet on the top of the queue http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

The developing planet of Oleg II will be renamed -Oleg II and will be ordered below and with all the named “- Planets”

Base Yards would be: ,BSY 0005 etc. this will put the BYS’s in good order.
Not:
Bevarra I
Bevarra IV
BSY 0001
BSY 0002
Brigid II
Brigid VI

All planets that have no near future construction will remain without a symbol and will be Last in order and at the bottom of the queue page http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I tend to produce a *Colony Finished satellite/platform on every planet I won't use in the near future, that production being on hold obviously.(Or it could be "Shipyard not needed" or something along these lines in other circumstances) Sorting the planets/bases by queues shows what space yards are idle, and allow to go to them fairly easily.

And there are other ways as well to deal with these queues, once the Empire becomes to be fairly big, like what JLS wrote.
