What Will They Think Of Next

Quote:

Twenty years after its introduction, the CD is no longer hip. From 2001 to 2002, Nielsen SoundScan estimates that 62.5 million fewer were sold -- a 9 percent drop to 649.5 million. Plummeting CD sales have forced record shops to close. And the music industry is scrambling to lift sales -- fueling the growth of new digital music services and suing hard-core file sharers.

Um, this is not due to pirating, it is do to the sluggish economy. To blame it on pirating is like blaming the unemployed for higher costs in living.

This is just one more assinine statement from the record companies who just want to blame their lack luster sales on others and not on the true problem, the economy or there own business practices.

Let's not forget the current quality of music in the marketplace - it's not too great either. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Plus, you have to admit that the record companies kind of missed the boat on digital music.
