After a week you can of course miss up to 7 more ticks (if you also happen decide to go visit your mother in law in the Death Valley)
- If the players vote on it we can pause the game indefinitely.
- Noone becomes a terrorist and forms an "Axis of Evil" (copyright George W. Bush inc.) because he lost his/her home system to a Star destroyer.
- If someone keeps missing turns on a regular basis the other players can vote him/her out. (say u miss 3 turns every week)
- Don't play SE IV and drive. The consequences can be dire.
- Anything else your sick game master comes up after a late night out.

If you've read all this and agree to become a slave to your computer and this game of SE IV, join us.

It's your rule, man. If you want it followed you would better serve your own needs to make it clear.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">you're joking right? Or did you actually miss the 100% cristal sparkling clear and obvious fact that that "rule" was intended as a J.O.K.E :-)

JurijD, not sure where the sarcasm towards Loser is coming from, but it's really not warranted or constructive for the situation. He was simply expressing a completely valid question about a game rule that was vague at best. You will learn if you host very many games that these house rules are the #1 source of confusion and conflict among players. It's very easy to have a game ruined over what can seem to be simple misunderstandings. Intentionally confusing the issue by placing "joke" or bogus rules is just asking for trouble. Everyone likes a joke, but make sure everyone knows it's a joke. You will regret it in the long run if you don't.

Not trying to sound like I am coming down on you, cause I am not. Just trying to share a little experience to help you avoid a bad situation.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Sarcasm??? Where ... eee, get it off me!!! Phew, glad u told me that was there, I don't like sarcasm on me, it always give me a rash.

hehe excuse me but... well I can't believe that anyone over 5 years would confuse that joke with a rule http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif And anyone who does... well I can't say he or she is welcome to join the game because if you can't take a joke you're too geeky for this game http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif I think that Loser is just a fan of George W. and was hurt by my remark http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif You people take this game too seriously....

And why didn't u trip over the : Don't play SE IV and drive. The consequences can be dire. "RULE" http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

You're coming down on me? Where? How? Do I need to take an aspirin before u do http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ? Do you have some kind of anti-grav device?

P.S.: Thanks for the help, really don't need any in that area. Oh and I really hope this is the end of this "subject" because this discussion is as silly as anything on FOX.

JurijD and Roanon, I think you both are misunderstanding me completely. Actually, I can't speak for Loser, but the comment about GW is not at all what confused me. I did consider that part of the sentance to be a joke and was not in the least offended by it. I have a much thicker skin then that, as most reasonable people do. Anyway, even if taken offensively (which I did not do) your comment wasn't directed at me personally, but at the Prez. Americans have a long history of making fun of our leaders.

The question in my mind was whether you were suggesting an actual concrete house rule for the game in a joking manner. "Noone becomes a terrorist and forms an "Axis of Evil" <snip> because he lost his/her home system to a Star destroyer." read in that context could mean any number of things.

Does the rule mean if someone takes out my homesystem I can't retaliate? I can't make an alliance if neccesary and go after the empire that blew up my sun? That seems to me a preposterous rule, but it also seems that is what you are suggesting. That is the reason that you needed to clarify the rule, not because of your offhanded tease at GW.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Beacuse that is more obviously intended to be purely a joke, and it doesn't relate at all to behavior in the game which is the only thing that is the perogative of a game owner anyway. You could just as likely say, "No eating crackers while playing" and noone would take it seriously because it's none of your business what we eat while playing, and how would you know if we did anyway? The other rule is more like something that would be your business as the game owner, and something close enough to legitimate rules people have suggested in the past that it seemed possible you did intend for it to be taken seriously, in substance if not in presentation.
