<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes. One used a substance to increase the number of red blood cells in her bloodstream, and the other one was apparently tested positive for doping BEFORE the event, but was only recently discovered. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

Well, it goes to show you that cheaters never win. I'm surprised that in this modern era with frequest urine tests for athletes, that they would even try something like that. Especially for the Olympics!!! Either train to the best of your ability, or realize you're not a world class athlete and step aside for those who are. I'm glad she got her medal.

Unfortunately many Olympic atheletes have been training from an early age "encouraged" by their parents. They have grown up sometimes with extreme pressures to win and will do so at almost any cost; even cheating.

I am by no means saying it's OK to do this, but as long as our society puts so much "value" on superstar atheletes, there will be cheaters...

Let the debate begin!!! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif No, not trying to incite anything, just maybe re-stating the obvious...

EDIT!! Many congrats to Beckie Scott and honors to her for wining in the true Olympic spirit.....

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I realize that, but still, if you know you're going to be tested and tested frequently, especially if you win, then you have to do your best and not rely on cheating. I know it's easy for me to say since I'm not even athletic, let alone competing for the Olympics or other world events, but if you know they're going to test you, then don't take the drugs. You're going to get caught eventually. And then you'll be disgraced before teh whole world.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I really don't think you can blame society for this for putting too much 'value' on superstars. I think we want and need heros. Watching atheletes like Beckie Scott win and the joy they get from it is one of the things I truely enjoy. We expect them to play fair. I'd like to think that for the most part they do. No one wants to be a Ben Johnson. I'm am surprised that some stil get caught though. You would think the humiliation and career ending potential of getting caught would make them think twice
