OT: HP Support Take II
For those of you who can remember my post from earlier this year about my luck with my HP Pavilion, and HP Support, you might recall the hell I went through.
First they had me send my computer in, replaced it with a sub par PC. I sent it back, got another PC, and it was a sub par PC. Sent it back got another one only find out it had at one point belonged to someone else, and HP never even bothered to wipe the HD or repair it before sending it to me. Finally they sent me a new PC. That PC has been working fine until today. Today the CD/RW drive stops reading disks. I did the standard trouble shooting, uninstalled it, restarted PC to reinstall it, and it still would not read cd's. Oh it knew they were there, I would get the little spinning disk icon whenever I put a cd in the drive, but the drive simply would not read any info from the disk. So I called HP support again 1-800-474-6836 Ran through the phone system, and finally ended up talking Omini in India. After an hour of trouble shooting he tells me that I must send my compter to HP to be serviced. OH HELL NO! They can kiss my arse before I will ever do that agian. In stead I gave him my credit card number and gambled that HP will send me a new drive. (What will more than likely happen is I will discover that my CC has been maxed out via on-line purchases being shipped to India.) He assured me that the drive would be here by the 25th. Um, riiiiggghhhttt. On a plus side, I finally installed a new video card to get away from the intergrated video card. I don't think that was the cause for the CD/RW to die, but who knows. Something killed it. Actually it was working afterward, as that was when I installed Deus Ex IW. Oh well. [ December 20, 2003, 05:22: Message edited by: Atrocities ] |

You seem to have nothing but bad luck man! Here's an idea: Move. Come up here to BC, Canada! Sure, the weather isn't too nice (unless you like snow, like me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) but other than that it's alright http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: OT: HP Support Take II
As of late, bad luck seems to be all I know. I have asked myself what I did to deserve this plague, but received no answer from on-highy.
I think God blames me personally for what happened to Jesus or something equally equivilant. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif Oh well I guess you can't win em all. |
Re: OT: HP Support Take II
Just get a new drive from somewhere else, and make sure it is a good one. Liteon and Khypermedia make some of the best CD drives in my experience.

Re: OT: HP Support Take II
it's more likely the result of 'chance'. by getting a computer, you take a 'chance', that is, you subjected yourself to unkown variables. in this case, the variables consisted of an unreliable company. when the first indications that this was so where presented, you continued to use them.
or in other words, don't blame someone else if you persist in walking through thorn bushes. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif [ December 20, 2003, 18:27: Message edited by: narf poit chez BOOM ] |
Re: OT: HP Support Take II
Point well taken Narf, but I could not obtain a refund to go and get a replacement from another company. For the cost, the original PC was about $200.00 cheaper than I could build an simular one.
After the ball started to roll, there was nothing I could do but let it roll. I have done my part to warn others now, Stay the hell away from HP products. Their service is subpar at best. (India.... WTF) |
