HEEEELP MEEE (edited please read)
 

Everytime I start a new game with the downloaded races it says "AI errors" all over the place. What is going on I used all the files needed yet it doesn't wanna work.

Please help thank you.

Okay to get a race to work don't all you need to do is copy it's folder into the pictures/races folder?

Because I tried that and I get AI glitches left and right according to the thing it's self. Come on you guys should know how to fix this please help me?

This is my Christmas present and I'd like to get it working!

It would help if you tell us WHICH downloaded race.

But your problem is pretty simple- those are old races, probably designed for pre-Gold SE4. Gold adds several lines to the AI files. Either fix them yourself (look at the error, find those lines in the stock races and copy them over), get an updated Version or don't use those races.

Sorry...the Centauri are doing it as are a few others...

How can I find out if a race is gold or not?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Look at the Racename_AI_Settings.txt file.

If the Last five lines of that file mention Drones, it's a Gold AI.

To cure pre-Gold AI, i usually copy files from some other race with matching race attributes(from TDM mod http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif ) and rename them accordingly to the race name. Obvious care should be taken of AI_general.txt file not to lose race description.

I remember doing all of that copying and pasting on my old computer, before I lost all of my files due to a lightning strike. You just have to look at the setting files, and as mentioned earlier, if it doesn't mention drones, then you have an older file and you just need to upgrade it with the extra lines. It's not that hard, just depends on how many of the old race files you have to upgrade. Then it just becomes tedious.
