Drop troops on planet

Hi

Can I drop troop on planet from 2 or more ships simultaneously?

Thanks
Vasiliy

No, each time a ship drops ground combat will begin.

If you are looking to invade a Proportions Homeworld you will need more troops on bigger ships.

In Proportions and some other mods, at least ground combat probably won't wipe out all the attackers of a strong "beachhead force" before the later transports can drop troops.

In unmodded, one round of ground combat usually wipes out one side or the other, but the attacker can usually fit more troops on one transport than the defender will have room for on their planet http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif , if they even have any serious ground defense, which tends to be rare in unmodded.

Mostly because people either accept the take-over as a risk they have to take, or haven't adjusted to the damage to cargo changes in later patches (before bombardment would almost always kill the troops; now it doesn't)

If you play mods like P&N and Adamant, ground combat Lasts for 1 or 2 rounds, so beachhead forces rarely get slaughtered in the first combat unless they are really small. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

Id like to have weapons platforms that can house troops or space stations / battle stations etc in planetary orbit that can house troops and in the case of an invasion can fly those trooops down to planet to help raise the planet side troop defensive numbers.

Some ideas to throw around. OR planet bound mines that can wipe out some troops in the case of a invasion.

I believe they will drop in the same Strategic Combat session, but they will each start their own Ground Combat, Lasting ten rounds (in stock). If he is playing FQM, for example, and invading a homeworld with a Small Transport full of Ground Canon3x3 (no Shield) Small Troops he is likely to lose the first batch as soon as it lands and the second batch soon after.

I am awfully certain of this, based on recent attempt to take the Rage Homeworld in a solo game.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Good ideas, all of them, but sadly unmoddable. you could email Malfador and ask these things to be included in the final patch but to be honest I wouldn't hold your breath.

EDIT: For an implementation to your planetary mines, I'd like to see an ability for facilities and/or weapons platforms that boosts (or could be modded to reduce) planetary troop defence. Maybe even a system-wide Version of the same. This would give modders another interesting toy to play with, and allow "fortress" facilities/ platforms.

One other thing about dropping troops that irritates me is that if you have multiple troop transports in strategic combat, the first one will drop troops, but then all the others will hang about and wait for the invasion to fail or the combat to end before offloading. This really is annoying...

Once it took 4 or 5 turns to conquer one homeworld and it was unmodded game (except the map). I didin't drop any reinforcements so the troop numbers/strength must have been quite equal.
