Wet PC

Bad luck has struck. The roof has sprung a leak and that leak dripped all night and all day on my PC. It is toast.

The Star Trek Mod and all of my ship sets are all but gone.

I have one saving grace, I backed up the latest work on the Star Trek mod so not all is lost. I don't know if the HD was damaged or not, so I will have to wait until I get the replacement PC to find out.

In the mean time I will not be on line to play my PBW games or other for a while.

This PC is not stable and does not have SEIV or any SEIV stuff on it.

What bites is BOTH of my good PC's were damaged. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif This is a POS 850 MG hard p150 running windows 95 and 4megs ram. No video card and no CD Rom.

The modem works, and Earthlink Tech support helped me to configure the PC for a manual dail up.

I am just heart sick at the moment.. Not to mention physically sick at loosing my two PC's.

I am installing MSN now, but I dont know if it will work or not.

I can't even access my Emails!!!

CRAP!

I had a roof leak in a storm a few years back and got this desk that i can seal my computer up with along with the case etc in a waterproof compartment when the storms start. Always good to have protection for valuable PC equipment $4000 US equivalent of PC equipment i have now therefore i have it nice and secure and insured to.

Re: Wet PC

It may not be toast - let it air out and dry and it just may come back to life.

Hopefully the HD is safe.

And I hope this isn't a ploy to get out of AUK after losing all those ships to my forces. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Was the computer on when it was dripped upon?

Re: Wet PC

Do let it dry out (for a LONG time) then test it. If you have homeowners insurance this might be covered.

What is it with Star Trek mods and computer failure, anyway?

What's up with the construction of roofs in Portland? My roof fell in during that first big snow storm a couple of months ago in Portland too. Computer was not in that room, but we lost all of our important paper work in the file cabinet. That thouroughly was a bummer. Do you have renter's insurance?

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif That's terrible. I know what it's like to lose your computers. A couple of years ago, my house was broken into, and they stole my two computers, in addition to some of my other valuables.
