Storms, Nebulae & Sight
If a storm (or nebula) has "This storm is opaque to most scanners" in its abilities that means that enemy ships canīt see your ships in there and cannot engage in combat, right?
So what are "most scanners"? Or put in another way: what kind of scanner does one need to see inside these storm and nebulae? thanks. [ February 04, 2004, 09:05: Message edited by: JurijD ] |
Re: Storms, Nebulae & Sight
IIRC, all level 3 scanners can see through all the storms except the red nebulae. I might be wrong though.

Re: Storms, Nebulae & Sight
Can anyone confirm this?
what is so special about a "red nebula"? Is it a bug or something else? what is a red nebula anyway? Just a regula one in red color http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif or what:) ? |
Re: Storms, Nebulae & Sight
The level of sensor cloak is defined in systemtype.txt. It happaens that the system with red nebulae picture was assigned the highest cloak level. You can mod it of course.

Re: Storms, Nebulae & Sight
The red is also a good nebual image for those who want to make Hyperspace map mods. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif A high cloak level is desired.

Re: Storms, Nebulae & Sight
I stock game level 2 scanners (e.g. Hyper Optics II) can see through all sector storms and through all system nebulaes except green nebulae (need level 3 scanner) and red nebulae (can't see through).
