Graphic question for modding
I want to create my own planet\star pics. I have created both 36x36 and 128x128 ones by photoshop, the 36x36 pics work fine in the planets.bmp, but the larger ones don't. It cannot load the large pics when I click the planet\star(small ones on the system map) in game. I think that should be the format problem, but they are same with the original pics (128x128x24 48.0kb rgb, 8bit). Later I found out that if I edit them with MS paint and save them, they just become usable. So is there any way to get them done in Photoshop?
Thanks. |
Re: Graphic question for modding
The planet numbers for the portraits are off by -1 in the secttype.txt data file. To see image p_383.bmp, the corresponding entry in the secttype file should be 382. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif

Re: Graphic question for modding
Woops! Ignore my first reply - I didn't finish reading your original post.
I always use Photoshop but I've never had a problem...are you sure of the stats and they are in .bmp? |
Re: Graphic question for modding
Thanks for the reply, but they are all in bmp format...

Re: Graphic question for modding
Check for silly typos in the filename. The amount of times I've trued to use files named _potrait_ or _protrait_

Re: Graphic question for modding
The file names are all like p0777.bmp ...
More funny things, I have added a new line of planets to the planets.bmp (20 planets) and modded secttype.txt, the mapeditor just show the first planet... |
Re: Graphic question for modding
Well, ignore the "more funny things" in my Last reply, they just came out "incredibly"...
