Star Races/Ships for SE IV 1.49
 

Hi - I was wondering if anybody can point me to any downloads for star races and star trek ships that will work with the classis Space Empires IV 1.49 Version. I know most support the Gold Version of SE IV but I do not have the Gold but rather the original Version. Is there any old sites or links for the Star Trek Races/Ships that work with the classic SE IV 1.49 Version?

as far as i know, as long as their standard shipsets with no ai, they should work with both. if you want ai, i don't know.

Look on PBW, and also look for the article to convert GOLD AI back to Standard.

Also do what narf said, but keep the General file and copy over a 1.49 races files and change the names to match the star trek races.

Thanks for all the info I got the star trek races to work. Another question I have is would you recommend that I purchase SE-IV Gold edition? Is there a huge difference between the classic and the Gold. I would like to play the cool Mods out there like the Star Trek mod but I guess I need some reasons to jusity the extra 40.00 for the gold on top of the 40.00 I initially paid for the classic. I know the product description stated 200 user mods included does anyone have a list of what mods are included on the CD?

Think of all the new games you get rolled into one with all the mods available under Gold. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif Gold is definitely worth it, especially since SE5 is at the very least 1 year away, if not longer.

Are you sure it was 200 mods? There are not close to 200 mods for SE4, unless that counts each custom ship set as its own mod.

But either way, most of the mods on the Gold CD are outdated and you will want to download the updates for them anyways. Check out the mods list page on http://www.malfador.com/se4mods.html

SEIV Gold is so worth the price that it is a crime they don't charge more for it.

1.49 is now making its way around the underground gaming sites, and I have to say, that the guys who download it are really cutting themselves short. They should seriously consider buying SEIV Gold and help support the INDEPENDANT developer of SE V. Remember it is only ONE GUY who makes this game, not some big money bloated corporation. Support Malfador and buy the product, don't pirate it.
