OT - Amiga emulator?
Ok, does anyone know of an Amiga emulator program that can load and read Amiga disks? I have a huge collection of .gif files and music mods from my Amiga days, and I'd like to be able to copy them off of the old discs and put them on my hd, so I can look at them or listen to the music. Is this even possible?

Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
Ok, thanks for the info, Narf. Maybe I should rephrase my question. Does anyone know of a "FREE" emulator? That Amiga Forever sounds like just what I need, but the $30 price tag is more than I want to spend on it. If I can't find anything else with similar options, I'll probably come up with the dough. But I'm still feeling the pinch from Christmas and all the money I spent on my car over the past few months (rebuilt transmission and had to replace the oil pump, fuel pump, the alternator and two tires, all in about a 3 month period).

Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
Best solution is to get hold of an old amiiga (any one will do) then transfer your files by serial or parallel cable. I spent an entire Staurday doing just this Last month.
Anyone want to buy an amiga? |
Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
winuae is free.

Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
No emulator can read Amiga floppies... The hardware is incompatible.
You have to buy a special adapter or use one of the tutorials out there to build your own... |
Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
WinUAE is free, but I think you need the kickstart files (and possibly workbench as well), which are not provided with WinUAE and should be purchased from Amiga Forever, as they hold the copyright.

Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
i think you can also get them off your amiga through a serial cable.

Once you have the Amiga, then transfer them to PC floppies with CrossDos, burn a CD, transfer them using a modem, ethernet, serial or parallel cable to another machine, ect. |
Re: OT - Amiga emulator?
Told ya. Commodore used a more advanced floppy controller with the Amiga than IBM was using in their PCs, and the PC still uses the same floppy controller, so it can't read Amiga formatted disks.
