OT: Programming Contest

Anyone interested in such a thing? If so, please post a suggestion for a contest, or read the following thread to see if you'd want to participate in a contest based on the current proposal. The existing proposal is based on Dominions II, but abstract enough to apply to any strategy game that uses production queues and multiple resource types.

I have wanted to do a web based Neural Net that would correctly choose colony type. Inputs like %of planet, usage, how many are currently building ect. No time though, No time. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif

Contest suggestion updated to become more clear, more generic, and more useful / realistic.

I have no contest proposals, but if anybody knows VB, has spare time, and is interested in working on a project let me know. We could always use more programmers.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">NNets are very generic. Once you have one, it is easy to make many and just change the inputs and retrain it to the new solution. The problem with them is they are not and will never be 100% correct. A test may give different answers when asked at different times. It may be 95% correct most of the time (Like me http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif ) It may be a simple answer to some of the SEIV AI problems though. Plus, I want to do one.

I also mostly progam in Delphi (Pascal), or Perl. VB is one thing that I've never gotten around to using.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Well yea but your original question also combined this with "do you have any free time" and are interested in working on some mysterious unkown project http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif
