Does anyone have any idea what this setting does?

It's in settings.txt.
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Allow Export of Weapon And Component Data := False</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Tried setting it to true, and there is no obvious effect. Although I don't really know what to look for.

Setting this to true allows you to export weapons and components data from in the game to a text file.

Well, that's kind of what I was expecting when I read it. But I guess I should have asked, how do you do this? I see no option for it in the game.

As I said in your other thread, I am at work now. I can find it for you when I get home around 2 this afternoon (in 2 hours).

Holy crap, those files are simply amazing for helping with mod-making! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif

It generates four files:
- CompFamilies.txt -- lists name, family, and vehicle type.
- WeaponFamilies.txt -- lists name, weap family, and vehicle type.
- comps.txt -- lists name, space, Structure, cost, family, roman numeral, custom group, and abilities.
- weapons.txt -- lists name, dam at range, reload, space, cost, and dam type.

The first two are great for catching bugs, and the second two great for bug catching and balancing.

Cool!

So that is where these files came from in the Star Trek Mod folder! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif Hmm... now where would be a good place to mention this in SEIV Modding 101... any suggestions? http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
