Expanding the galaxy size
I have been having fun lately with the Star Trek Mod. And more recently I have been looking at the Trek-Bab5 mod for better AI opposition. Soooo, I'm currently modding some of the TDM races (reducing intel and strength race points, messing with surrender and evil empire settings)to add to the Trek-Bab5 mod. But I really miss the BIG galaxies you can create in the STM. How can I get the Trek-Bab5 mod to make huge galaxies like STM?

Re: Expanding the galaxy size
In Settings.txt, simply change:
</font><blockquote><font size="1" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">code:</font><hr /><pre style="font-size:x-small; font-family: monospace;">Maximum Number Of Systems := 100 to Maximum Number Of Systems := 255</pre><hr /></blockquote><font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana"> [ March 17, 2004, 03:04: Message edited by: Suicide Junkie ] |
Re: Expanding the galaxy size
Make sure you add (or use a file created by someone else) that has at least 255 names in "systemnames.txt" because the default file does not have enough names for 255 systems. If you don't do this, you will have lots of systems with blank names.

Re: Expanding the galaxy size
Thats a good point Slick! and one that caught me when I started modding.
Is your comment in the "Frequently Asked Questions for Newbies" area? I didn't see it. I only saw discussions on increasing the galaxy size with the setting.txt file. [ March 17, 2004, 04:51: Message edited by: hicksz ] |
