How Many Of You
How many of you go to bed at night thinking about either your single player game or a game on PBW?
Do you strategize in your sleep? Spend the day at work thinking up new tactics and such? How many of you enjoy roll playing your PBW empires? I have gone to bed thinking about both my single player and multiplayer games. It sometimes helps me to sleep thinking of what I will do next. When I was working I would sometimes use my spare time and think of ship names and such but that was so very long ago. I do enjoy thinking about the game from time to time. I feel that SEIV has some of the best Fan Fiction on the web and hope that someday someone will take notice of those great stories and give SEIV some notibility. |
Re: How Many Of You
It's funny, but a few weeks ago I was trying to sleep and thinking of a game when I suddenly realised that I had forgotten to give certain orders in the game. So, of course, I jumped out of bed at 2 o'clock in the morning raced down to my computer and redid my turn with the new orders.

Re: How Many Of You
Pretty much every morning when I'm getting into the shower I think about what's going to happen in the Remorhaz universe. Now if I could just take the time to write it down...

Re: How Many Of You
I think about it about every night. It is more I must STOP thinking about it to go to sleep, not put myself to sleep with it. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: How Many Of You
I do spend some of the 'lie still waiting for sleep' time pondering PbW games, but only if I'm in one that's far enough along to be... comlicated? There's a better word...
Since it's been a while since I was in a PbW game that deep, I might think more about the next bit of technobabble I'm going to write for the Play by Committee game. (use spectator | spectator to log in) |
Re: How Many Of You
Yeah, I know that feeling. A great many of my spare moments are taken up by se4 strategising. Or thinking up new stuff for O&C.

Re: How Many Of You
I think about my games a lot when I'm lying down and resting. Sometimes it's enough to make me get up and play more, if I've been napping during the day. By the time I go to bed, I've usually had enough SEIV for the day.
I particularly enjoy roleplaying my races. It makes PBW more fun, especially when I'm losing (i.e. most of the time). |
Re: How Many Of You
Some nights I lay awake thinking about new ship designs. Also some of my best ideas for Invasion! Have come to me in dreams or groggy hallucinations. Role-playing my PBW empires... since the only PBW games I am in are Adamant games and I have only been playing those for a few months I have not had much of a chance to role-play except during my negotiations with Fyron about our demilitarized zone and I found that quite enjoyable. For my Invasion! PBW game which I encourage everyone to join I hope to do allot more role-playing.

Re: How Many Of You
The whole reason I play SEIV is to role play in my single player games. I try to imagine what its like to "be there" and come up with little mini-dramas in my head to explain why something happened.
Like the time I had an enemy fleet closing in on an undefended wormhole, and there was a small fleet of mine in need of repair on the wrong side and I barely had enough time to close the wormhole. I imagined the commander of the wormhole closer contacting the head of the fleet: "We have some bad news. I have orders to close this wormhole NOW". "We just need 2 more weeks to make it though! My men, OUR men have been sacrificing their lives on the front lines! Dont cut us off now!" "Im sorry, I have my orders... May the gods have mercy on your souls." "Same to you, you'll need it more than we will". Or when I send a colony ship to find out if there are mines somewhere, whoops, miscommunication http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif Or the time I had a race with a huge enemy fleet that was closing in on the homeworld of an ally. They had ravaged their system and my fleet showed up just in time. Or recently, after having read "Enders Game" I imagine.... well, I wont give away the plot..... As far as thinking about the game, sheesh, I can't stop.... I write down what I did right or wrong at the end of each game and plot out strategy during the day. |
