Need help with something.
 

I already looked in the Newb FAQ and found the link, but it doesnt work! What I am trying to find out is how to create your own custom SE IV race. I am using the newest Version. (1.91 i think) As i said, I looked in the FAQ and the link doesnt work for me, so If anyone can just e-mail me directions or instructions on how to do so i would be very thankful. thanx in advance.

If you want to make a shipset, what you need to do is:

go to pictures/races
Create a new directory, and make the name a unique, short Version of your race name.
Create a set of portrait and mini graphics; look at some other race to see the size and filenames.
You will need to change the filenames so that the beginning matches your directory name exactly.

If you are putting them in pictures/races/mynewrace, the filenames should be mynewrace_(insert portrait/mini and objectname).bmp

If you want to make an AI for your shipset, then you'll want advice from an AI guru.
For starters, though, just duplicate the AI files form some other race, adjust the filenames as required to match your directory name, and then tweak things.
If you have specific technical questions, post 'em here and somebody will answer them in no time at all.

If you have the GOLD disk look on it for the Basic Ship Set tutorial.

Other than that, you really have to make the ships from scratch using a 3d or 2d program.

assuming that you dont just want to use an existing shipset either with the game or that is downloadable, and then create your own race settings for it using the in game tools. the "new" button in the race setup section of game creation?

Actually... spiders can be programmed to recognize that... if it says something at someplace dot com, it is recognizeable as an email address... :-\
