Add in production bonus for high pop
I tried to modify settings.txt to add in a production bonus for populations higher than 10000. I changed "Number Of Population Modifiers" to 17. I replaced item number 12 with:
Pop Modifier 12 Population Amount := 14999 Pop Modifier 12 Production Modifier Percent := 200 Pop Modifier 12 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 200 Pop Modifier 13 Population Amount := 24999 Pop Modifier 13 Production Modifier Percent := 225 Pop Modifier 13 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 225 Pop Modifier 14 Population Amount := 34999 Pop Modifier 14 Production Modifier Percent := 250 Pop Modifier 14 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 250 Pop Modifier 15 Population Amount := 44999 Pop Modifier 15 Production Modifier Percent := 275 Pop Modifier 15 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 275 Pop Modifier 16 Population Amount := 59999 Pop Modifier 16 Production Modifier Percent := 300 Pop Modifier 16 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 300 Pop Modifier 17 Population Amount := 2000000 Pop Modifier 17 Production Modifier Percent := 300 Pop Modifier 17 SY Rate Modifier Percent := 300 The final entry (17) must be present and the values for the percent modifier must be equal to the maximum percent gain allowed. If you leave it at 200 you will only get 100% modifiers even though you want 200%. This makes ring/sphere worlds more appealing IMHO. |

Ah, good. Someone learned from the sphereworld/ringworld thread about how to SUCESSFULLY change the population modifiers. I tried something earlier, but didn't realize the Last entry had to appear. I'm a bit surprised that it can be equal to the Last "used" modifier, but still... BTW - I wonder if the modifiers can be increased without limit. Imagine a sphereworld at 500% or even 1000% production bonus. Hmmmm...
Anyway, here's my expanded list of modifiers (I like lots of breakpoints - makes each minor population gain something to look forward to). Obviously, the number of Population Modifiers needs to be increased to 23 for my set (and I kept the maximum increase at 300%). Hehe. Yes, you can change the percentage values to any value. I set the value to 1100 for worlds with greater than 59999 population. I checked my game and I had a sphere world that now produces 5,000kT of each resource a turn. Shipyard rate was 22,000 per turn.
A bit over the top but amusing none the less that it *can* be done. |

Boy, talk about abuse... http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif 22,000 points per turn at the shipyard? What could you POSSIBLY need to build at that rate? Well, besides stellar manipulation components, of course. At least your resource production levels on that world will help balance your economy. But I pity the poor empire who tries to compete with you...
