OT: Jeremiah

Has any one watched this series? Is it any good? Could you fill me in on it?

I have the first season on tape. A dispute with my satillite provider caused me to drop Showtime, so I haven't seen anymore of it.

I did like it. It had the same kind of deep storyline (?soap opera like?) that was part of the B5 attraction, plus it didn't have the Captian transfered off the show after the first season. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif (Well he did get kidnaped, and I haven't seen any more of it, so who knows http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

So it is an entertaining series? Lots of action? Not boring or ... dumb?

Deep stories are not soap opera-like... there is a lot more to what constitutes a soap opera than having stories that can Last longer than a single episode (or a two part episode)...

I only saw one episode, and that was during one of their free nights. Can't afford to get all of those movie channels, even though I have HBO, Cinemax and the Starz channels. It was interesting, and I liked what I saw. Just wished I could see more of it. Also, that night was the first night for Odyssey 5, about a shuttle's crew being the sole survivors of Earth after it blew up. They were sent back in time to stop it. I liked that also, but I think it got cancelled. Haven't heard anything about it lately.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yes, I meant this in a way to say story continuity, you should see the stories mostly in order to understand them. I did not mean Soap Opera as in the sex, lust, backstabing, betryal. Even though there is small amounts of each there.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">I thought it was entertaining. I also felt it got better as things went along. It was not Indiana Jones action, but then again it is the first season. B5 was also somewhat slow in most of the beginning.

There are some really stupid episodes though. (The comic book hero comes to mind) and some technical things I would fault. Like how can you keep getting gas after 20+ years. Doesn't it go bad, or evaporate if stored in open topped containers? Same with canned food.

Once you accept that all the adults died and the kids had to grow up by themselves, 20 years pass. The show starts. It is new and unexplored territory.

Canned food can Last many, many decades, as long as it is sealed properly, which most canned food is.

Yes, but can canned food Last with lots of hungry kids around with no other way to get food.

Interesting relevant information:
"Canned food has a shelf life of at least two years from the date of processing. Canned food retains its safety and nutritional value well beyond two years, but it may have some variation in quality, such as a change of color and texture. Canning is a high-heat process that renders the food commercially sterile. Food safety is not an issue in products kept on the shelf or in the pantry for long periods of time. In fact, canned food has an almost indefinite shelf life at moderate temperatures (75° F and below). Canned food as old as 100 years has been found in sunken ships and it is still microbiologically safe! We don't recommend keeping canned food for 100 years, but if the can is intact, not dented or bulging, it is edible."
