scrapping Large numbers of resourses problem

Just want to check to see if anyone else knows of this particular issue.

I'm playing a mod and had to scrap a huge facility (I belive it was a Metropolis). The resourses gained from this facility were enough to support my deficet fundings long enough for other facilities and resource harvesters to be built and make up the shortfall.

However, once the next turn processed, all the resources gained were gone. All of them. But just the ones gained from the scrapped facility. It was a huge number. Something like 50,000 to 100,000 of each resource type. I know there have been other issues with large numbers in SEIV, does anyone know if this is another such problem?

In case anyone is wondering, this is in the StarScape Mod. Not on PBW.

I should add that I and bearclaw have discussed this issue and I don't know why its doing that. It's not a mod issue, and doesn't have anything to do with the data files. I've tested it myself and can confirm that the resources dissapear when the turn is run. It doesn't seem to affect smaller facilities, which is why we think it has to do with the game being unable to properly process too large a number.

50,000 to 100,000 isn't really all that large of a number. The games seems to do ok handling those amounts in other areas. I can't say for sure you are incorrect, I just think it's probably something else based on what info we have here so far.

My very first thought is that you don't have enough storage to hold all the resources. You have verified for sure that you do?

Are you playing turn-based or simultaneous turns? Not sure that matters, but it might help to try and duplicate the problem.

All I can think of is insufficient storage. Especially in sequential movement mode, you can see that you can spend the excess resources on the turn they are generated - they only get chopped down to your storage limit between turns.

I have scrapped homeworld facilities in Proportions mods and Adamant mods and gotten all of the resources from them that I could store... (testing stuff out http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/tongue.gif )

Then I haven't seen anything like that... it's not the "forgotten repeat-orders resource coVersion" thing, is it?

Can you explain in more detail what is happeneing? Like what are your resource and storage numbers before you scrap, after you scrap, and after the turn runs. And you didn't sound sure about the facility. If you could nail that down and tell us exactly what you are doing we could try and duplicate the problem. Without duplicating it we are all just guessing at causes. If it's not a situation we could easily recreate maybe post a savegame somewhere.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">That's a good thought. Are you familier with that one Bearclaw? You might have a planet stuck on repeat orders converting resources. On turns when you scrap the small facilities you don't have enough to meet the convert order so nothing would happen. But on turns when you scrap the larger facilities you would have enough so they get converted.

Re: scrapping Large numbers of resourses problem

It's too early in the game at this point for resource conVersion. This is a perplexing bug that doesn't seem to have anything to do with the mod code.

In order to duplicate it, you'd have to have the mod and the latest dynamic update, as well as the savegame. I can send that to you via email: starscape@inficad.com

But, Bearclaw would have to give you his password privately as I will not give it to you. I don't give out anyone's passwords, that's up to them to do.

Anyway, I'd look into it more if I had more time, but between running the turns and working on Chaos Evolution, I don't have alot of time left in the day. It'd be great if you could figure it out. If there is some weird problem with the mod data, it should be easy enough to fix with a dynamic update.

Anyway, thanks for helping out. Email me if you want those files.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">As mentioned, I don't have resource conVersion yet. And to Geo, I can give you my password for the savegame file. My email is in my profile.
