Satellite Question?

I know you can stack an EW (Electronic Warfare) Sat in with weapons, to get a ECM and Combat Sensor bonus for the stack...

What about Shields?

If the stack is targeted as a single entity...ie like a ship...and gets the benefit of the EW, then wouldn't the shields do the same thing...or are they just targeted first? I noticed this in a game recently and was wondering if I viewed this correctly.

The shields count as hit points for the satellite that they are on only. They do not protect other satellites directly, other than it takes a bit longer for that satellite to be destroyed.
