AIC questions

I don't know if any bugs have been reported, and maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I've noticed that some components don't seem to function the way I expect them to.

1- Organic armor: in combat, it won't regenerate. Shouldn't it? I thought that was the major advantage of organic armor.

2- Quantum Reactor: I placed two ships with a quantum reactor 1 in a fleet of 30, which I thought would be enough to supply the fleet for continuous activity. However, the quantum reactor 1's do not generate supplies!

3- hm.. there were more, I'll post them as I think of them.

Any ideas?

Re: AIC questions

1) Just a guess: do you have at least one OA component left (not all of them destroyed) ? It is implied to regenerate only if at least one of them is intact.

2) The lower quantum reactors in AIC behave like giant supply components, intended without supply generation.

Re: AIC questions

wow, you're right about the quantum reactors. I even verified with components.txt. JLS, perhaps the implication of "re-energizings" should be made more clear?

no, I even had two of them left. I took a distanced hit from a PPB, moved the damaged ship to behind the front line, and he never regenerated. The only thing I can think of is that perhaps the display isn't updating properly, but unfortunately that is a difficult hypothesis to test.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Hi, Yimboli http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

You may report them here or the AIC thread if you wish. At the AIC thread you may find a more rapid response.
AIC Thread

The Organics Races Organic Armor regenerative abilities in AIC, is that of the same found in stock v1.91 se4.
You will find different levels of Quantum Reactors in AIC, then just the one found in stock se4; additionally, at its highest level you will find the Component that Generates limitless fuel. Is there a bug, some find this interesting and some may say this redundant, what do you think?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Now would be the time to report http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif the next AIC upgrade is out in a few http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Perhaps, “Generates 30000 fuel between re-energizing” but most players realize at this level, with the lower level reactors - they will require "re-energizings". This wording could be changed, sure why not http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif What would you suggest?

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">There is no difference between AIC and stock SE regarding organic armor. After the hit, OA indeed start regenerating but it is hidden. The act of regeneration happens suddenly at the moment one piece of OA is destroeyd - next turn you will see it is restored. There is no partial regeneration http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif As a consequence, ship with a single piece of OA never see the benefits of OA regeneration http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

This feature was discussed few times and is still very confusing and counterintuitive but that' how SE works.

Re: AIC questions

I never knew that about organic armor. That makes sense now. I wish it was different!

JLS: perhaps reword to "Can independently generate 10,000 supplies before it must be [restocked/resupplied/some better word]"?

Anyone got any other ideas?

Re: AIC questions

I like it Tim. We will make the change for the next upgrade.

Thanks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif

= = = = =

New Reference:

Name := Quantum Reactor I
Description := Energy source.
Ability 1 Descr := 10000 fuel between re-supplies.

Name := Quantum Reactor VI
Description := Self-perpetuating energy source. Ships with this reactor will not have to resupply.
Ability 1 Descr := Generates limitless fuel.

Re: AIC questions

to elaborate, the reason I was confused was that I thought a "re-energizing" of the reactor occured every turn. Thus, I thought that the quantum reactor was capped at generating 10k supplies per turn. That's why I was confused http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
