Sometimes I use Microsoft Outlook to keep track of deadlines, appointments, different tasks etc for work, but usually I just write things down using a pen on an actual Calendar.

Organization can be so over rated http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif
Tasks http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif If we can not remember it - it could not have never been that important anyway http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif [ July 06, 2004, 06:07: Message edited by: JLS ] |
Re: OT: Does anyone know of any Calendar program for the perpetually disorganized?
I run the full spectrum of completely disorganized down to managing my time down to the nearest 10 minutes. I don't like either end of the spectrum. I have tried numerous computer software over the years with varying degrees of success, but I can tell you that the best way that I have found to manage my time/todo's/appointments is with a small (and I do keep it small) stack of 3x5 cards in my back pocket clipped together. As new items come in, I write them down, and as old ones are completed, I either trash them or keep them in a pile for future reference if anything important is written on them; filed by date. Each day, I start a new card, with the date on the top, and carry over any incomplete things from previous days. I have another card with periodic things (meetings, personal todo's like car oil changes, etc.)
I used to think that I could do everything on the computer, but my home and work lifestyle is such that I am not always in front of one. It is surprisingly simple and fast. Especially if you develop your own shorthand system. Well, that works for me, anyway. Slick. |

You didnt mention the OS. I use "Calendar" on Linux. I use Notepad on Windows with a text file called ToDoList.txt

Outlook is a good program for time managment and reminders. It also works well when spread across several devices like PDA's and Laptops. But like some others here, I still use paper.

Re: OT: Does anyone know of any Calendar program for the perpetually disorganized?
I use 2 applications.
the first is Dragonfly by MXac Software (www.mxac.com.au) - this is a "life organizer", with a journal, address book, Calendar, reminders, project organizer, etc. It's a pretty heavy duty app - i've used it about 3 years now and am really happy with it. The second is Mozilla Sunbird (http://www.mozilla.org/projects/Calendar/) - i use the stand alone Version, but ther'es also an addon for mozilla (and maybe firefox i'm not totally sure). It's a simple Calendar app with at odo list and a day planner type thing. i use it to track thigns that are time sensitive, as dragonfly's not so good at that. I've also used timeCalendar LE (no website that i know of), but was unimpressed. |

get married.
Thats what I did... Now I am a little more organized. The only problem is that events seem to pop in with a note that says " I told you about this months ago" |
