How do I use troop transports to invade a planet???

How come you can't bombard a planet without destroying it? So the invasion force can invade.

To invade, simply attack the planet with your transports, move them next too the planet, and use the orders button or the guick key T and the troops will be droped and ground combat will begin.
Send warships along for protection and to supress ground defenses. You can take out the weapons platforms by turning off the high damage weapons and fireing on the planet until they're gone. This might be harder on smaller population planets, but it works.

Taking planets from your enemy is such a rewarding experince. God I love the feeling when my Heavy Troops land and sqush the enemy into FUBAR. Man I just love it.

You can establish that you want your fleet to take the world in the Stargies set up section of the Ministers control panel.

OTher than that, you can do as recommended. Thats what I do, and I love every minute of it.
