Longest Turn ever in SEIV
Ok... Here is a long one
AST MOD 1.8 Just discovered the Genisis device.... I have 1102 planets... Its a PBW game... So what do I do... Well About 8 turns earilere I discovered Atmosphere converters... So i make sure I have the level three... Build them on 892 planets... Took forever... And yes all in one turn... I showed kwok the turn... -million organics and rads... Paying for it via conVersion.... and this is supporting about 900 2600 kt ships and support ships ( another 500 ) anyways... the turn with the genisis shows up and i start to scrap the atmosphere converter and build a genisis and push it to the first or second slot depending on what is being built... About 100 planets in I had to leave the computer due to the pain in my right hand from all the clicking... So it is then I release that I could have clicked on destroy facility type... Do so... and then over a weekend add the genisis device... Full well knowing that it will convert all planets within 1 turn.. Well next turn... the first 700 devices are built... The rest of the plants are building the 2600kt ships ( about 400 or so... the ships take 2.6 years to build so you have to build tons of them to make a difference....) Anyways... I open the latest turn.... I now have 700 planets converted.... This will be the longest turn ever..... What are your stories on a long turn? |
Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
I did come into this link with a story for a long turn, but it doesn't even come close to that. In the no-longer-running game Dark Nova 2, I was running approximately 350-400 planets. My main weapons were fighters so I had setup construction sites linked by supply transports set to repeat orders (load fighters, move here, unload fighters, repeat). I belive setting up the supply lines took about 2 hours. Then the rest of my turn was about another hour.

Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
my longest was building troops on over 300 planets to ward against empire wide riots from battle losses. (I had pitched some very large fleets into battles that I expected to lose, but had to fight as delaying actions so as to prepare for a killing stroke elsewhere).
anyway, nowhere near the length of your turns. Of course, I could not use multi-add and had to go into each queue individually, so maybe longer. |
Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
Cant say i have had such a long turn lol - but the game where the random map was 100 systems on one side connected with a single blackhole system acting as a bridge between the other side of 85 systems. And i had one side fully but couldnt break through to the other side of the galaxy was interesting.
After 10 turns of pushign towards warp point opening tech - i had a space yard ship with unit capacity fall into a spatial anamoly and into a nebule system that the ship remained opaque i was able to build a transport and some troops and quickly invaded the main enemy from behind - within 20 turns i had captured 3 systems (he had all his ships trying to come through the blackhole lol) and then soon after i opened up some warp points and he was soon crushed - put up a good fight. |
Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
The longest turn I have had is maybe a few hours. That's when I was testing different ship designs on the simulator to try to come up with the best design to counter some enemy threat, and I tried different ideas. Other than designing new ships, my turns usually take half an hour or less. I don't use any ministers but usually I don't have that many ships to manage, less than 1000. Sometimes the battles take a long time if I use tactical combat in a desperate situation where I'm outnumbered, and I move all my ships and fire the weapons manually.

Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
Multiadd wouldn't have helped you, Tesco; it doesn't do facilities.
I remember my longest turn was over two hours, but I don't remember the details of why, save that it was a PBW game with a complicated diplomatic situation. |
Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
Try clicking the Next colony button, or Ctrl-C hotkey. Saves you having to go from system to system on the map clicking planets. And you can use the Q hotkey to go to the build queue screen.
You could setup a fill queue with your new facility , but that wouldn't help in those cases when you are removing or reordering exsisting queues. |
Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
My longest turn happened in a sinlge player vanilla game I'm currently in. As the story goes, I'm building mostly baseships with some dreadnaught construction to reinforce my fleets. I'm using automatic move to so as to keep my ships in order. Normally only about 10-20 ships finish construction in a turn, so waiting for them to move is no problem. But then some rare occurence happened where nearly all of my construction yards finished constructing their ships at the same time and I ended up waiting for more than 20 minutes for my ships to finish moving.

Re: Longest Turn ever in SEIV
Clearly Aaron needs to put more things in SE:V to be able to do similar things on multiple planets at a time. Like to be able to assign planets to Groups, or something. If possible, planets could be in multiple Groups.
