1.19 Space Yards no fun?
Prior to 1.19 one of my top priority fields to research early was Space Yards all the way so I could build alot of fairly good base space yards. Now in 1.19 i hardly ever research it until late in the game because of the cost and it's limiting my playing style alot since I rely heavily on base space yards.
So I have been thinking about how to change the situation for the better and I have two ideas, but I don't know which one to go with. 1. Add 2 more levels and space out planetary space yards to be at levels 1,3,5 and space yard components at all levels -> add 2 more space yard components producing at 2500 and 3000 each so at level 5 planetary and component produce at the same rate. Also drop the cost considerably, maybe all the way back down to pre 1.19 levels. Not sure about that. Problem: Have to modify AI research files to go up to level 5 instead of 3. 2. Simply make all components produce at the same rate as the facilities at the same tech level. Fast, simple and doesn't trip up the AI. Comments? |
Re: 1.19 Space Yards no fun?
I think it does affect the AI somewhat since it doesn't refit ships too much. Also, I think the AI is 'used' to using the Ship Construction research path to get Planetary Space Yard II. Or at least the research ship construction 5 is there. That and I keep finding a lot of SY I stations floating around.
I must admit to finding that a bit annoying. 200,000 points is pretty steep. |
Re: 1.19 Space Yards no fun?
I've moved shipyard components to the REPAIR field with the repair bays. What the heck. They're both automated construction components. One is big and can build new ships, one is small(er) and only repairs them. This keeps the research price roughly the same and let's you research either planetary shipyards or space shipyards as you think it necessary. Also, you can turn off the Repair field and have a game without space-borne construction at all if you want.
