Fleet Management
After playing the demo through several times I do have a couple of fleet management recommendations.
Would it be possible to access individual vessels via the "Fleet Roster"? I have found no way to access the data for an individual vessel attached to a fleet without removing it first. Maybe I missed something? On the flip side, would it also be possible to have vessel status icons visible on the fleet transfer screen. After a task force has engaged the enemy, I often must transfer damaged vessels to my fleet support squadron, which has a repair vessel. Using the demo, I have to write down the names of the damaged vessels from the fleet roster and then open the fleet transfer screen to select from my handwritten list. If the icons were displayed in the transfer screen, it would be much more user-friendly. Just my .02c. Anybody else have any comments? |
Re: Fleet Management
I sent some of these opinions to Malfador, and know that others did it before me...
To be honest, in SE4 I'm really missing a lot of great features that SE3 had... but I know that still the MM people is working, and will continue working after the release. Then I hope that most of these things could be fixed/implemented. |
Re: Fleet Management
You can check an individual ship's status while in a fleet by right-clicking on it...
What I'd like to see is some way to permanently set the formation leader while we select the default strategy... It seems to always choose my repair frigate instead of my brand new, big gunned Flagship... It just ruins the formation if we change at the start of a battle... |

Re: Fleet Management
Also kicking in my 2¢, I agree with the need to be able to pick your own fleet leader. I haven't checked out the repair fleet transfer issue as I usually just fly a repair vessel alongside the combat ships, and keep it out of the way when the depleted uranium starts flying.
I'd also like to see the ability to upgrade more than one ship in a fleet at once without getting the "ship already matches specified design" error messsage. (The phrasing of that may not be right - I can't remember the exact wording right now.) Transferring all the vessels out of a fleet, upgrading, and sending them back into the fleet afterwords seems unneccesarily complicated. |
Re: Fleet Management
Wingte,
Er, I downloaded v0.56 Demo Version Last week and that's the one I've been playing. I never had a chance to try out v0.51. |
