Really strange RCE Last night.
 

Most of mine (and infer from the forum here, most others-not all, but most) have occured when large numbers of ships meet in combat.

Well, after re-installing both the game itself and both patches then Rambies EA shipset, Mephisto'ss 1.60 MOD, plus adding the lines data/settings.txt so that the "missing" alen races could be seen, I get an RCE when I click on the Tolyatan. This is a fresh install, no save games, nothing and I get an RCE!?

After backing out to the main menu (game didn't lock this time) and coming back in I was able to successfully use the Tolyatan. They are Last in the settings file & screen if that means anything.

Guess I'll copy this and send it to MM.
