this is going to sound REALLY dumb...
 

..but after several attempts, I have been unable to find a way to select a pre-made race for myself....

is this as it should be? or is there a way....
and if I want to play a PBM game, then how do I import the races that the other players choose?

sorry if the questions are really moronic, but I am honestly stumped on this.

Post Edit: ... apparently it gets worse.. the readme states:
"4. Only the race styles which come with the demo can be used in the Demo Version. "
Now, in the game setup there's a button for "Add New" and one for "Add existing"....
am I simply experiencing a freak bug that grants me the opposite of what was intended?

No Bug there.

If you want to use the default races then you use quick start and just choose. The demo doesn't allow you to add existing(open race files) though you can create multiple races to use.

If you want to do mp then you will have to have the other person design the race and then send what they want to you and you create all the player races.
