David Weber\'s Honnor series as a Mod?

Are there any Modders thinking of doing a mod based on Webers books. I think it would be great. just hoping.

Re: David Weber\'s Honnor series as a Mod?

Two Problems:

1: D. Weber uses a different system for travel in between solar systems. He has warp points, yes, but they are few and far between. Most inter-system travel is direct, by sailing hyper space

2: The way he has shields and such designed is (I think) impossible to implement in SE4 as it stands. The diferent shields for different sides of ships, etc...

And another one: His light attack craft are significantly different than fighters in SE4.

None of these problems are total impossibilites, but it will give it quite a different flavor than Honor Harrington novels.

As a side note, Weber's other books, Insurrection, Crusade, and In Death Ground are all based off the Starfire board game system, and Starfire was one of the main inspirations for the SE series, according to Malfador. Many of the mods I have done in the mods section are an attempt to get a Starfire flavor even more intense in SE4. For example, external missile racks, heavy bombardment missiles, etc...

How about SBMHAWKS? WOuld drones fill that bill? I did impliment your mods and you are right, they really do have a Starfire feel. Now if only the Xchiati(whatever) could act like Arachnids.

While the combat wouldn't match the books, Mr. Weber has given enough drawings that we have a good sense of what the ships look like. Anyone with skill, ambition and a dood graphics program care to try?

I've been working on a HH mod almost since the game came out, and got to my house! http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

Its been difficult to implement a lot of things, and it defenitly has a vastly different feel from the HH mode of combat. And since currently the requirments for what is required on a ship doesn't work as listed in the vehiclesize.txt, I won't be releasing any Versions. Although so far I've done most of the weapons, sidewalls, hulls. I haven't finished off the tech or facilities yet, but I'm getting there http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/images/icons/icon7.gif

SirDarwin,

This sounds good to me. When you say you wont be releasing any Versions, I assume you will be releasing the "Final" verson rather then any intrim releases ?
