Not a folder, option when setting up the game. I believe under "game mechanics"

Re: In what folder

Not sure what the max is but you need to set this up for each game. It is defaulted to 100. I raise it to 500. Click on new game. Then click on the game settings tab. I would guess that this number is not only ships but units also. I have over 300+ ground units that were involved in one battle alone. Hope this helped.

Re: In what folder

I know the max. that setting will goto is 2000, I want to set it higher by changing the max. for that setting in the data files, I just can't find the right file in SEIV's files.
Anybody knwo where in SEIV's files I can find that setting?

Danny,

Don't set higher 2000 is absoult max I think for the game. Anyhting higher should corrupt it, why you need more than 2000 anyway?

Re: In what folder

Between mines, satilites, and fighters I can easily have 2000 of those in space at anyone time, I did in SEIII.

If it corrupts it I'll change it back, anybody know where that setting is?

Re: In what folder

I've never fiddled with the setting but I've had 200+ troops landing and clashing with equal numbers of enemy troops. I think the limit must be applied to ships alone, not units. And if you add up all the WPs, satellites, and mines I've had . . .

Come to think of it, in the game I just played, I'd deployed hundreds of mines, had between 300-400 troops moving around in transports or stationed on planets, a force of 200 carrier-borne fighters, and I couldn't count how many dozens of weapons platforms were deployed. Waaay more than 100 total and even more than 100 in each Category.

Re: In what folder

The two settings are for number of ships in space (starts at 100, max 2000) and number of units in *space* (starts at 100, max 2000). So I'm guessing this means you could have 2000 mines in space, and still 1000's of fighters, as long as they are on ships, or on planets. At least thats how I interrupt the rule.

Also I don't believe this variable is located in any text file, at least through the files I've looked through.

Re: In what folder

In my first game with the full, I ended up building (and deploying) almost exactly 2000 mines and most never went off... (Long game. Why? I played peacefully for the first 70-80 turns or so, so the AIs managed to build up... *strange* game, however; for instance, I don't believe any enemy ship EVER used armor -- just (normal) shields, which meant phased-polaron BCs and DNs rocked...).

And I didn't change the slider, so if the default is 100, either the mines aren't counted at all, or each *minefield* counts as 1 (which could be done, since there probably isn't partial damage, supply or movement points bookkeeping for mines IIRC).

Re: In what folder

That still doesn't really compute. Troops and WPs would never be "in space" and I've often had way more than 100 mines deployed at wormholes at any given moment. I don't remember if I've had that many fighters on the strategic map but I'm sure I must have had that many satellites deployed.

I suspect it refers to # of Groups, not # of individual units.
