You're not getting music? Interesting. Context-sensitive background music plays fine on my box, although maybe the subwoofer is important (PII450, Altec-Lansing AC295 speakers w/ subwoofer, TB Montego I (AU8820), Toshiba DVD [SD-1202M if memory serves] as the only CD-type drive. Win2KPro SP1 + hotfixes, DirectX 7.0).

As for capturing planets -- I'd check to see whether the troop transport's strategy is 'Capture Planet', and whether there was any opposition that would have scared the transport.
