emergency build bug
There's a bug with the emergency build option for space stations and ships, when building for some time on emergency build you should spend an equal time after that building on slow. when however you mothball and unmothball your ship in the same turn this penalty is gone, it's like you never where on emergency build.
I'm still playing the 0.99 demo, so I don't know if the bug is still present in the full Version',couldn't find it in the text files. |
Re: emergency build bug
Yes, a very useful bug/flaw/oversight indeed. I use it all the time. But even if they fix it there will still be a way to get around it. Just scrap the base and build a new one. Plan it so the new one is finished when the old one reaches it's maximum emergency build time, scrap the old one and put the new one on emergency and you're still in business.

Re: emergency build bug
I haven't tried the scrapping the base idea but it sounds like it has a serious flaw isn't the time it takes to build it and the minerals it takes to do that a major drawback? I can see that maybe you can get more building time out of it than it takes to build it so you could still be ahead. Another way I take the sting out of emergency building on worlds is to build low level mining or research facilities during the slow periods at least in the early game when they will only take one turn even on a slow build.

Re: emergency build bug
The scrap thing with bases isn't nesecary(sp?) due to the mothball thing, but if the mothball thing is fixed that's how you can do it. And large or huge planet filled up with pop can usually build a bare bones orbital space yard in a turn or two on emergency. Sure, it would cost some minerals, but if you have enough of those it doesn't matter.
