Has anyone else...?
Has anyone else had this problem:
I went in & altered all my moded files after the patch (a pretty time consuming process) then went to start the game... Well I noticed it only made Galaxies of 100 stars &* said "well I'll just go into the settings data file & change that value..". So thinking everything should now work just fine I hop back into SE4 (I did after all close the game before playing with the data files)... Well I then try to start a new game with a large map & warp points anywhere in the system... Starts building the map... gets to 18%... Then... 'RANGE CHECK ERROR'... WTF...? Cancel out of SE4 (to which this annoying range check error box stays on screen til I end task it). So I go ok, well it had one little error no biggy, I'll restart my PC & try again after I check to make sure I didn't accidently add garbage to the settings file (aparently it only checks thsi file when building a galaxy)... Check the file after restart... everythings fine no additions that are aparent... go to start SE4 again... go to create new (switched to medium this time just because) galaxy... get to 18%.. 'RANGE CHECK ERROR'... well wtf again? Did MM somwhow leave a bug that makes galaxies above 100 systems non-playable? Though this would not explain why even small or medium size galaxies exhibit this problem... All other files are fine... This has pretty much got me stumped... |
Re: Has anyone else...?
Well, I have generated a 250 system map with new patch, and so far it working just fine.
I really have no idea what could cause your problem. You can try the old way to fix it. Uninstall, then install. |
Re: Has anyone else...?
I have mone set to 254 and it also works OK.

Re: Has anyone else...?

Re: Has anyone else...?
I'm playing a PBEM game with 200 systems and v 1.19. No problems so far, approx 20 turns into the game.

Re: Has anyone else...?
No probs on a 240 size galaxy.
I did however have problems after making some custom Components. The game would only recognize the components up to the first one I made then nothing else. I had to remove them. I will work on that problem later, as I am well into my game. |
