Salvo Beta Test

Exchanged some e-mails with Andrew and am very interested in doing testing for Salvo.

Is this the right place to get on the list?

Thanks...

If it is, I'd like to sign up too. I missed out on the H&M2 beta, so I'll keep my fingers crossed for this one. The Age of Sail is one of my favorite eras!

We will keep you on the list. Should be getting underway in earnest soon.

This sounds like a great game. It's been a long time since I've played any good naval games so I'm really looking forward to this one! I hope I can also help beta test.

edit- typos galore from me tonight... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif

If possible, please add my name to a list of potential beta-testers for Salvo. I have been in email contact with Andrew at Sprue, and I am very much looking forward to the release of this game.

Do they have a website I can visit?

Klvino: (And everyone else….)

Greetings – I’m Andrew Lonon – Developer of Salvo.

My goal for Salvo is to make the best game that I can – while at the same time taking a slightly different look at the age of sail. The pace will be faster than many previous games, and the scale will be bigger as well. In order to make the best game I can – I am looking foreword to starting the beta so that I can have a community to help me shakeout the best features, as well as find bugs. -sigh-

I don’t know what the optimal number of testers is but it seems to me that there is probably a point of diminishing returns. I understand that Shrapnel has some “old pros” and I have a few first string choices – so the optimal number of slots may fill fairly quickly. Therefore – I don’t think everyone who has expressed an interest will be included in the process. Unless you actually enjoy the frustration of beta testing - this is a good thing - because it means we will get to the bottom of any problems and get thought the beta ASAP.

Still – it can not hurt to ask – so if you are interested in participating in the beta post a note here to let us know.

BTW - Some of my best friends have been false cheesess. Believe me – they are better company than the real thing.

I already mentioned to Richard that I was interested, but I'll post here also. A very fascinating period of history and of military tactics.

Me too for the beta, assuming of course its going to work on Linux too http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . Used to play Age of Sail too, along with the old Pirates! Gold from Microprose.
