What\'s your favourite race?
 

What race do you guys use to play as,a custom race or one from the game?

I use a custom race similar to the Jaenar.(Zoidian)
After the next patch I was planning on developing an AI for them and upload it.

I removed the EEE and the Cryslonite races.
They aren't humanoid enough for me. Plus I hate their ships.

That's strange..

I prefer the non humanoid races, especially the cryslonite. I like to think evolution to be creative enough to design other intelligent races besides the humanoid creatures. Humanoid races are used far too much already in my opinion, I really prefer the more orriginal weird races.

I use many different ones. My favorite ship sets are the Pyrochette, United Floran, Gron, and Voidshark's purple ships which will soon (hopefully) be a part of the Darlok mod. I have a couple of races that I designed for myself that I play regularly, but I'm a bit more than 50% likely to use a new race creation on any given game.

My favorite race to play is a republic with elitist nobles who love bringing slaves back to a world near their home. I try very hard to get at least a few slaves of each other race in the game and I drop them all on some Ice world with no atmosphere in my home system. This world get's renamed Menagerie. Every now and again a large population transport takes a tiny number of people from Homeworld to Menagerie as the nobles go on vacation and enjoy poking around their slaves. They also keep a mothballed fleet of captured enemy ship designs to look through and take their kids to see so that they grow up knowing how vastly superior they are to any other life form. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif After they get "enough" slaves they tend to commit genocide with plage weapons. They also like to build suicide bombers (ramming ships) and things like that on slave worlds (crewed by slaves of course). I usually use the Pyrochette shipset for them because the race portrait looks like an Illithid from AD&D and that's about how mind flayer's work. This race uses both the psychic and temporal tech trees and are artisans.

I've been using a variation of these guys since SE3, but I'm still working on a name for them and I tweak the starting settings often enough that I don't even have an .emp file for myself. http://www.shrapnelgames.com/ubb/ima...ons/icon12.gif

Nyx - I like and use the Pyrochette ship set as well. Did you ever fix some of the "fuzzies" on ships. I fixed a few of them, but was hoping the author would post an update.

I particularly like the ship set for the United Flora! What I'd like to know is more info on the Sergetti and Mephisto mods before I try them out. Do they mod the AI? Will they attack more and with better strategy?
