"Invalid index" Exception

I'm currently experiencing crashes with the "Invalid Index" exception in the Perdition system. The crash seems to occur whenever my ship is struck by one of the spherical green projectiles fired by the Sithrak cruisers.

Is anyone else having this problem? Are there any known fixes? Thanks.

The projectiles are from null-space projectors. In the beta there was a problem with their damage model. It was fixed, but there is a possibility that another problem was introduced. I should have some time over the weekend, so I will try to see if I can duplicate the problem.

Re: "Invalid index" Exception

Thanks for the quick response. I'm looking forward to advancing in the game.

If if helps, I'm using a Geforce2 GTS (Detonator 45.23) and a SB Live! Value (5.1.2603.0) running under WinXP, SP1.

Edit:
I looked in Main_Components.txt, and Null - Space Projectors are the only weapons to use "Shield And Armor Piercing" damage. The weapon's other functions seemed pretty standard. Is this where the problem lies?

I am also getting invalid index errors. It didn't come up until I equipped psychic flailers on my ship. It dosen't always crash, though, and seems to be mostly when I'm fighting Sithrak ships. I don't think it is the null space projectors for me, because I was not having these errors before I changed my weapons.

Well, I got into a lovely fight with some Sithrak ships, took multiple null-space hits, but no crashes. I would recommend making a save game right before you think you are going to get a crash. Then, if you get a crash, zip up the offending save game slot (directory) and send it to Malfador, along with a description of the problem and anything he might have to do to get it to happen. Hopefully, that will allow him to find and fix whatever is happening.

I'll do that. But first, I'm going try an un/re-install. If that doesn't work, I'll be zipping and mailing.

Thanks for looking into this for me. I really appreciate it.

Try to download the latest Sound BLaster drivers. The WDM drivers (the one you get from Microsoft for the Sound BLaster) seem to have problems with SF. Aaron fixed this to an extend in the upcoming patch but it comes at a price on the sound front. The best way is to get the latest drivers directly from Creative. Maybe this helps you.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">yes, invalid indexes could occur during combat in the release Version. The SF patch1 should fix that. If the error still occurs, send a savegame to Aaron.
