So what is the best way to handle the four weapon bank keys?

It seems easy for the destroyer, but the cruiser has the side gun mounts. I am about to buy the cruiser. I have been using different banks for guns and torpedoes.

Does the point defense need a weapon bank assignment to fire?

I tend to go with:
1 = left arc
4 = right arc
2 = forward (light)
3 = forward (heavy)

Of course, in P&N-ism, the light weapons need to be held down for rapid-fire, while the heavy weapons need to be timed for optimum effectiveness.

Hehe, i'm a leftie, but I have used PC's so long now that i'm nearly ambidexterous http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif I hate arrow keys too - there are just 4 keys there, instead of the half-keyboard that is in reach around WSAD. And dont you just hate it when you go to use a workstation at college or uni and some left hander has left the mouse on the left of the keyboard! I Keep light weapons in bank one, heavies in bank 2.

Lefties unite and go to the right! Show them we can outclass em using their own control system!

Do they make keyBoards with the keypad on the left?

How about typing lessons where you rotate they keyboard 180 degrees before typing. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

I'm a leftie as well, the weapons banks work best for me by having front(light) set to 1, front(heavy) set at 2, sides at 3, and rear 4. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon6.gif
