A place to call home.
I am a freak for open ended games. And the demo was pretty fun. So I am sure I will enjoy Starfury for quite some time.
One thing that would be really cool would be a place to call home. The ability to buy a deploy a starbase, or several, would be great. You would definatly have to be able to upgrade it's equipment and repair it. Would something like that be posible? One more question. Do the starbases in the full Version ever upgrade thier equipment? Or is it just a matter of time before some pirate comes along and blows the heck out of it? |

Yeah, it would be cool to build starbases... http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon9.gif
The starbases do upgrade themselves over time (actually I think it has to do with your experience level http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/image...s/rolleyes.gif ), just like the enemies do, fitting themselves with the latest Version of whatever components they have, so your Terran starbase with Antimatter Torpedo I's might later on be armed with Antimatter Torpedo IX's! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif |
Re: A place to call home.
Well, you can't build one..but I think you make one via events/jobs, and move it the same way. I'll have to play with this idea.

Re: A place to call home.
It is also entirely possible to deploy a starbase in the same way as a fighter.

http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif Better make that starbase launcher really huge so you can't carry it around normally! http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif

Re: A place to call home.
Hey, I would settle for renting a storage locker.

side note: that's another problem with a QNP movement system..being overloaded reduces your max speed, but has no effect IIRC on acceleration or turning. |
Re: A place to call home.
What I'd personally like to see as an modding option is to have any cargo over your maximum be automatically dropped into space.
So, when the TCN is firing on you for having illegal cargo, they'll eventually hit your cargo bay, your capacity will drop and the contents will spill out. Once the illegal goods are forcibly removed, they'll move on. This would work awesome for pirates, too, if illegalness was not universal, but depended on the race. Pirates would consider trade goods and any other items of value, illegal. They'd then attack you until your cargo leaked out, upon which they'd steal it away and leave to sell it on the black market. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif |
