Slotmodder
hey... i just tried using the slot modder to add a ship to campaign 3... i took the abbidon battleship3 and beafed it up a bit... change the forward and side heavys to lights, and added a light on the nose in the middle... and put it at abbidon and neutral shops...
so, in game... i bought the thing, but its nose, and tips of the wings are chopped off... like where i changed/added HP it chopped off the model... and the new HP in the middle won't fire... it accepts a weapon, but i cannot fire it... any suggestions?? Re: Slotmodder
DOH! just did a search and found answers to some of my questions... still not sure y the moddle is chopped off tho...
hmmfph.... y dont the slots and the objects files use the same xy coords? that just dumb... and y do i have to list the same info twice in the slots file? thats just sloppy coding imho... [ January 22, 2004, 23:38: Message edited by: openair ] |
Re: Slotmodder
The slot's XY coords are pixel locations on the 2D pre-rendered overhead image.
The firing points, and light sources and such are spacial coords relative to the 3D model. If some of the slots are invisible, then you've probably given them an unrecognized type (Not engine, hull, shields, etc) The next patch will allow custom slots though. Which info are you listing twice? |
Re: Slotmodder
WHOOPS! thats what u get for not being very observant... going back and looking at the normal Abbidon Battleship ingame, i noticed its apprently supposed to have those bits choped off... or what looks to me chopped off...
Is there a list of what files get read into the game when? ie if i change spaceObjects, do i need to buy the ship again? well... in main_purchaseship... u have to list the kT, price, turn rate, speed, acceleration, ect... with each ship, and at the bottom of the file in those tables... Re: Slotmodder
The tables at the bottom are just comments.
Useful for quickly comparing the stuff (ships, components, etc) I suppose, but I never actually use that myself. |
