Freeport Main Spacestation Attacks Me

I'm playing the Demo Version (v1.15) and i'm really annoyed with the Freeport Main Spacestation.

The first time the station attacked me was when I attacked a pirate ship. I didn't have the Freeport Mercenary membership yet, so I guess that's why. RELOAD

After that mishap, i've been having some good battles with pirates. The station didn't fire on me. More battling with pirates, and later i'm attacked by the station.

I didn't attack any of the good guys.

Why isn't there any indication that the station hates me? Couldn't a warning or a fine let me have access to the station again? I can't continue to play since the Freeport station gives out the main missions. In essence, MY GAME IS FINISHED.

Too bad, I was beginning to enjoy the game, but I won't buy a game that has 'game-ending' bugs.

Odds are you picked up some illegal cargo while you were attacking those pirates. If you're carrying illegal cargo, formerly friendly ships will attack you. Check your cargo holds for things like Demon Eggs and the like.

Oh I see. I did recently attack a ship and picked up the 'floating boxes'.

Why isn't their any notification from the station?

Does that mean the spacestation attacks illegal cargo, not pirates? I've seen the stations destroy a number of ships, but I thought it was because they were pirates.

I'll check my cargo holds.

Thanks

It does attack pirates in general. Some of those boxes will be legal cargo, some illegal. In the patched full game at least, a red warning will appear on the screen stating you're carrying illegal cargo. It's easy to miss since its not in a pop up window, it just appears above the interface bar.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">There is. Watch you mini-map (as long as its not set to whole system - use the R key and set it to 300ls - I don't have mine set to anything else).
If the station is friendly (or any ship for that matter) it appears as a blue triangle, if hostile it turns red.
The interesting point is that there are no neutrals - which should appear in green.

The problem I have with the mini-map is that it is too "mini". I end up going to the larger map many times to see what's going on.

FEATURE REQUEST: Allow the mini-map to be expanded. I'm tired of looking for tiny 1-pixel red dots.

POSSIBLE BUG FIX: The space station doesn't appear sometimes when I look at the 'big map'. I ended up making a note to myself "the spacestation is near planet Freeport V".

Thanks

You can zoom the radar map in, you know. It was whole-system, 300ls, 150ls, and 75ls views.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">On the system map screen, make sure you have "Show Ship Names" turned on. Space stations show up a lot better then.

<font size="2" face="sans-serif, arial, verdana">Yeah, but that zoom is too limited. I'd like to see the entire sector and know which direction I am going. After a battle, i'd like to get my bearings quickly since I usually need repairs.

Anyways, I just find the mini-map not very useful due to its size.

FEATURE REQUEST: Could there be 'automated enemy targeting' and an alert with direction pointer? When I fly around, I usually get shot by fighters or satellites without even seeing them. I never saw them coming (except if I keep hitting the 'T' key).
I'd like to have enemies targeted automatically, a small alarm to wake me up saying there is an enemy near-by, and a pointer that tells where it is. An indication on the display panel of the distance to the enemy would also be good. This saves me from spinning around trying to find the object.

Thanks again. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon10.gif

Re: Freeport Main Spacestation Attacks Me

You want to see the entire sector..but complain that makes things too small? Er, ok.

There isn't a feasable way to make the minimap cover the entire sector and still be large enough to give direction indicators. The 300ls view does give direction indicators as well as hostile/not hostile indication, and nothing can fire on you from outside this radar range.
