More bugs and Oddities
After all the hassle with installing the 1.15 patch during an existing campaign I restarted from scratch.
Some of the faults go away - PD's still don't function properly, they can't hit a missile on a spiral flight path, and they still only shoot down 1 missile where the AI gets both in the same situation. However, the ionic missile problem seems to have largely resolved itself. Scatering armour appears to now work but I'm not 100% sure. It lists resistances corretly in the display ie percentage for piercing equal to sum of armour with a max of 95% but appears to be operating against some other damage types still - psychic flail for example. Emmissive armour appears not to work at all - at least its not listed in the resistances table. I have split scattering/emmissive installed on every side and it lists only the scattring armour effects. Sithrak ships are still rubbish and they're not even immune to their own weapons. Using a level 22 Psychic flail to kill a destroyer takes 1 good hit, cruiser 2 good hits, and battleship 4 good hits. It even evens the odds against Xiati cruisers and Battleships http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif There is still no indication that there is a time limit on the Sithrak portal destruction. Its a pointless limit as once the portal is destroyed they're not going to build another one are they? Unless of course that's a future campaign expansion? So now the question is when are we going to get armour/shields/devices that do give resistances against speed slow, poison gas (although why it should do any damage with intact shields and armour eludes me - after all the hull is still air tight or we'd all be dying), psychic flails, etc. |

In regards to the emissive armour, I've noticed a HUGE differance. I haven't gone into evaluating in detail I have noticed that when I outfitted my ship fully in Emissive armour, the hits I was taking did significantly less damage. So much so, that I forego shields almost completely. I think I put 10 Kt shield generators all the way around and then fill my armour slots with emissive. Which, by the way, takes some searching to find enough http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon7.gif . Of course, Xiati targets sure make for a nice supply.
