how do i change my hull slots to weapons slot?

how do i know the location of a certain slot?

Just don't go changing all your heavy mounts to light mounts on a battleship. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/icon12.gif The light weapons while extremely useful on smaller ships that can turn fast will often be useless on slower turning ships as the enemies will outrange them or not stay in the firing arc for long.

Thusly I discovered the true purpose of heavy weapons, when I modded my Abby BS to have no heavy weapon mounts, all light. http://forum.shrapnelgames.com/images/icons/shock.gif At the time, I hated the heavy weapons as I always seemed to do more damage with light weapons.

If you mount maneuvering thrusters on your big ship, you'll find you don't have that firing arc problem much.

Point slotmodder to one of the 3 missions and open main componentconfigurationslotsplayer.Make a backup of that file if you choose to export it once you have made your changes.Probably be better to save it.
